5. Cara completely changes the group dynamic
Cara begins as a Mord-Sith, one of the feared warrior women trained to capture and control people who possess magic.

The characters travel through forests, mountains, fields, villages and ancient ruins that make the Midlands feel like a real place rather than a collection of studio sets.
Even when Richard and his companions are being chased by soldiers or supernatural monsters, the scenery looks wonderful.
It is essentially a tourism advertisement with considerably more sword fighting.
8. The action is delightfully dramatic
This is not a show in which characters quietly defeat an opponent and move along.

Is every fight completely realistic? Probably not.

9. The costumes understood the assignment
Confessor dresses, wizard robes, Mord-Sith leather and villainous royal clothing all help create the show’s distinctive fantasy world.
The costumes communicate who the characters are before they even speak. Kahlan looks graceful but powerful, Cara looks ready for battle and Darken Rahl dresses like subtlety has personally offended him.
The wardrobe department never forgot that this was an epic fantasy adventure.

Richard, Kahlan and Zedd have an important overall mission, but individual episodes often introduce new villages, magical problems and people who need their help.
